Letter From Florida

                                                                              January 23, 2014

Dear Grandma,
This is Emmy.  I am vacationing in Florida with Rachael, Renee, and Kayla.   We have gone to a couple places so far like: Walt Disney World, Islands of Adventure, Florida Aquarium, and Wet 'n Wild Orlando.

At Walt Disney World we went on some of the rides.  I went on four roller coasters with Kayla.  She puked on the last one.  I also went on two other rides with all of them.  Another thing that we did was we met all the princesses and Mickey Mouse.

When we all went to Islands of Adventure we went on more roller coasters and rides.  At least this time nobody puked! Also while we were there we seen some of my sisters' friends there.  They talked way too long!  After they were done talking we went on a few more rides that were really fun!

While we were at the Florida Aquarium we seen innumerable amounts of fish.  Some were neon colored and others were boring colors.   Also we seen dolphins, sharks, stingrays, whales, etc.  I relished seeing all these animals! I had a great time there!

I had so much fun at Wet 'n Wild Orlando!  There were so many thrilling rides!  The most exciting ride was the ride where you go really fast and then drop three feet.  My sisters were too scared to go on that ride.  We all went on a couple family rides that were great too!  Wet 'n Wild Orlando is the most compelling waterpark I have been to!

                       Love,
                       Emmy

Concussions

What do you think about concussions caused by contact sports? Well, here is what I think.  I conjecture that if an athlete gets a concussion the coach should not be able to put that player back in right away.  The horrible thing is that 31% of athletes with concussions are rushed back onto the field after injury.  A utterance that I think should be a rule is that the athlete should have to wait at least one month to be able to play sports again.  I think that the helmets should have more padding in them than they already do so then that might help to prevent concussions.   One fact is a study has shown that football players who have suffered 3 or more concussions have a tripled risk of depression.  Another fact is that several professional football players have committed suicide.  Autopsy results revealed brain damage.

"You get a concussion, they've got to put you out of the game.  So if you can hide it and conceal it as much as possible, you pay for it the next day, but you'll be able to...stay in the game."- Washington Redskins fullback Mike Sellers.
